VESCONITE PRODUCTS – MATERIAL OPTIONS FOR RAIL

Vesconite Superlube is a highly advanced thermopolymer in the Vesconite range. This low-friction, low-wear material has unusual properties providing damping for bogie stability. The static and dynamic coefficients of friction are similar, reducing jerking motion and promoting smooth sliding. Superlube was developed to solve wheel wear problems on heavy-haul locomotives.

Vesconite Hilube is an advanced thermopolymer in the Vesconite range. Combining low friction and low wear properties, Vesconite Hilube performs exceptionally well under high loads in difficult operating environments. Vesconite Hilube reduces wear to mating surfaces.

A specialised hard-wearing thermopolymer designed for challenging operating conditions, Vesconite gives up to 10 times the life of traditional bronze or nylon bushings. Combining internal lubrication, a low friction coefficient and low wear rates, Vesconite does not require external lubrication, even where conditions are dry and dirty.

A material with high impact-strength for demanding rail applications where peak loads are less predictable. Hilube 20 is a medium-to-low friction material designed to be resilient while operating with low wear to expensive components like axle-boxes and top-centre-plates.
